1975 ALFA ROMEO NOUVA GIULIA SUPER 1600 #AR105260003206. (Stock #3809.) Following their amazing pre-war successes in building and campaigning powerful high speed race cars, Alfa Romeo became well known in post-war years for building lightweight, high performance family sedans. From 1962 until 1978, Alfa Romeo built a Type 105 Sports Sedan, a lightweight (@2200 lbs.) 4-door car powered at first by a 1300 cc, light alloy, twin cam, 4-cylinder engine. The later-produced “Super” came equipped with a 1600 cc engine, also a light alloy twin cam unit with twin carburetors. These cars, despite their classic and cute boxy shape, had some great styling touches, were very aerodynamic and had better performance than many sports cars of the era. Our Super has the correct series 1600cc engine with twin sidedraft 40mm Weber carburetors, was repainted years ago in its original “Biancospino” white and is fitted with its original Alfa radio, Turbina-style wheels, an update sport suspension with Koni shock absorbers and sport exhaust. It was sold new in St. Agata, Bologna—the home of the Lamborghini factory, so was exposed to some pretty inspirational vehicles when young. Drives and looks great!
