1997 JAGUAR VANDEN PLAS SEDAN #SAJKX6242VC802869. (Stock # 3805.) In 1988, Jaguar introduced a new 4.0 litre, 6-cylinder engine with substantially more power and greater fuel economy than its previous unit which had been in use in various forms since its introduction in 1949. In October, 1994, a completely new and absolutely gorgeous body was introduced by Jaguar at the Paris Auto Show and was powered by this fabulous 4 litre engine. This combination was offered until late 1997 when, with Ford now owning Jaguar, the car was fitted with Ford’s new V-8 engine. The 4 litre car with the new body became very desirable and pristine examples have become hard to find. Performance is excellent (top speed is 139 mph) and the elegance is difficult to duplicate. The top-of- the- line “Vanden Plas” luxury version of the car was available new at a 20% premium over the price of the already- luxurious “XJ-6.” Our car is one of the last of these 4 litre Vanden Plas cars and was sold new in Washington D.C. in September, 1997. Two years later, with 39,000 miles, the car was sold to a local (Bridgewater) resident who cherished it for 17 years and 45,000 miles before suffering a stroke and becoming unable to drive his pride and joy. Our car is finished in gorgeous Ice Blue Pearl Metallic with the Vanden Plas-only ultra-luxurious Ivory leather with tan piping and fabulous inlaid burl walnut interior trim, facia and rear-seat folding beverage trays. It has remained in truly fine condition over the years and may easily be used as a daily driver. This while still maintaining the luxurious presence and unique qualities of a true luxury automobile and being one which will be welcome at any Jaguar Club events or shows. 85,138 miles.
