1961 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER CLOUD II SALOON #LSXC-135. (Stock #3952.)In 1955, Rolls-Royce introduced the fabulous Silver Cloud, an entirely new car meant to be owner-driven, eliminating the need for a chauffer. The car was powered by a 4.2 litre, twin- carburetor, 6-cylinder engine with a 4-speed automatic transmission and was met with immediate world-wide acclaim, although certainly out of the price range of the average new car buyer. In 1959, Rolls- Royce added some performance to the equation by bringing out the Silver Cloud II—now powered by a 6.3 litre, twin-carburetor “V-8” engine, also mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Our car is a late-production example of the Silver Cloud II and has been owned by the same local family for more than 20 years. Finished in black with cognac leather, it is gorgeous. It has been shown at many Rolls-Royce Owner’s Club and classic car shows, more often than not bringing home the top trophy and often the “Peoples’ Choice” award. This car may also have been seen at many RROC tours where it performed flawlessly. Fitted with air conditioning, electric windows, power steering and power brakes, the car is a delight to drive. The polished walnut interior woodwork is magnificent and the rear compartment folding picnic tables, matching the rest of the cabin woodwork, add a touch of elegance as does the sliding beverage tray, also in matching walnut, to the front compartment. The twin rear compartment lighted vanity mirrors (also with matching walnut surrounds) complete the picture. Original manuals and original tool kits (large and small) accompany the car. 97,481 miles. $53,000.
