1961 MGA “1600” ROADSTER #GHNL98165 (Stock #3965.) The aging “T-Series” MG design, original from the 1930’s, was finally updated in 1956 with the sleek new MGA roadster. Horsepower was increased from the 57 of the last T-Series car, the “TF-1500”, to a whopping 68 with the MGA. This completely new car was very well received by the motoring public and became very popular around the world and especially in the U.S. With the introduction of the MGA “1600,” power was again increased, this time to 79.5 horsepower and front disc brakes were added. Now competitive with its contemporary sports cars, the car’s top speed approached 100 miles per hour and 0-60 mph acceleration times were 13.5 seconds. MGA’s are now becoming quite collectible, even more so those wearing the “1600” badge. Our car, beautiful in black with red leather, black convertible top, side curtains and tonneau cover and chrome wire wheels, has had just one local (Livingston) owner for the past 21 years, purchasing it then in Florida. It has been kept in excellent condition throughout and has won awards in several shows, also capturing “Peoples’ Choice.” It is accompanied by manuals and service records, and wears a chrome luggage rack on its boot lid, charming with leather straps keeping a period wicker basket in place. 93,686miles. $26,000.
