Sold new to one of the more famous residents of Palm Springs, California--Alice Faye, former “Queen of the Hollywood musical.” A native of New York City, Alice Faye was born on 5/5/15 and purchased this car at the age of 60. She was a Vaudeville star before becoming a radio singer with Rudy Vallee and His Connecticut Yankees and then was groomed by Darryl F. Zanuck, famed head of 20TH Century Fox for silver screen stardom. She then went on to star in many films including “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” and “Fallen Angel” before retiring and purchasing this 450SL. It was titled to “Alice Faye Harris”since she had married Phil Harris in 1941. Together they had the Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show from 1948 until 1954 and she passed away in 1998 at the age of 83. In 1999, a local woman purchased the car, then with 61,156 miles, from its Alice Faye’s estate and has driven it @2,500 miles per year since then. Finished in Harvest Beige(body and hard top) with bamboo interior and as-new and correct tobacco brown convertible top, the car is equipped with factory air conditioning, electric windows and locks, etc. and is in very nice condition throughout, due to its dry climate history. The car has just been serviced, had a new alternator installed and drives beautifully. Original owner’s manual and copy of the California registration are present along with several very interesting pieces of Alice Faye memorabilia including a framed autographed photo of her.
