    Description

    1957 CHEVROLET BEL AIR 2-DOOR HARDTOP #VB57F276745. (Stock #4408.)

It is commonly thought that the 1950’s were the pinnacle of American automotive design, and the 1957 Chevrolet Belair is certainly one of the high points and most representative cars of that era. The 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevy's were collectively known as the “TRI-FIVES” and are immediately recognizable designs of that era. The 1957 was perhaps the most iconic and distinctive of the group with its tail fins to the rear and twin rocket ship appendages on the hood, room for 6 adults and choice of new and powerful V-8 engines. The model bore little resemblance to the preceding years and almost none to the years that followed.   Our car is an absolutely pristine example of the top-of-the-line BelAir coupe, finished in period-correct “Desert Rose” with a white top and correct silver and black interior. The car came to us from a West-Coast collector who has traded the car to us on a spectacular Rolls-Royce. He had purchased the car from a Corvette specialist in Summerville, Georgia who had originally purchased it from a friend in Kentucky. He then had the car delivered to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he and a friend flew in, collected the car and kept a written log of their 5-day drive back to Bend, Oregon. A specialist in collectible American cars, “Retro-Rides,” is located in Bend and was commissioned to replace the carburetor with a Holley fuel-injection system and a higher efficiency aluminum radiator.   The absolutely stock body is gorgeous, and the car is fabulously equipped with a 350 cubic inch V-8 engine with dual exhausts, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes with discs to the front. air conditioning, electric windows, an original "WonderBar radio and chrome 15” “Ridler” alloy wheels with Good Year radial tires. The car has been driven @ 8,500 miles since restoration and is ready to drive anywhere. $78,000.
