1959 CORVETTE 2-TOP
ROADSTER #J595106403. (Stock #4048.) The
Corvette was introduced to great excitement as “America’s Sports
Car” in 1953 with a 6-cylinder engine and automatic transmission.
The body style changed in 1956 and then again in 1958. In 1959, the
design became a bit cleaner, losing unappreciated chrome strips,
and the car was highly popular. Power was now provided by a 283
cubic inch V-8 engine and three different transmission choices were
available—3-speed manual, automatic or, the most desirable in the
collector car market, the 4-speed manual. Our car is equipped with
an original “CQ” designation 283 cubic inch, 230 horsepower V-8
engine and the popular 4-speed manual transmission. It is
beautifully finished in original Roman Red with white coves. Of the
9,670 Corvettes sold in 1959, just 2,931 were build in the 2-tone
paint scheme and only 865 were offered in this Roman Red/white
coves combination. The car is equipped with its factory hard-top,
matching the body in Roman Red, the hidden convertible top is
white matching the coves, the red interior and factory “spinner”
wheel covers and original width wide whitewall tires complete the
fabulous visual package. In truly fine condition throughout and
featuring the original “Wonderbar” signal-seeking radio., the car
has come to us from a local (Chester) collection, where it enjoyed a
heated and dehumidified 4-car garage, and has been kept in superb
condition throughout. The car drives as well as it appears and is
fabulous to witness on the road. 91,041 miles. SOLD!
