1962 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 "BN7" 2-SEATER ROADSTER # HBN7L17389. (Stock #4212). Austin Healey has always had a somewhat mystical image in the history of English sports cars. With a classically English body design, a sound duplicated by no other car and excellent performance, the car was always very special. The original 4-cylinder "100" was a pure 2-seater sports car which captured the heart of enthusiasts everywhere. In 1957. the car evolved into a 2.7 litre, 6-cylinder, twin carburetor car with a slightly enhanced body design and had 2 jump seats fitted to the rear of the somewhat larger passenger compartment. In 1959, a larger 3-litre engine was fitted and the model designation was changed to "3000.'' In 1962, a very special model of the 3000, referred to as the "BN7 roadster," was introduced. A throwback to the "100/4" with a pure 2-seater body, but fitted with the 3-litre engine, just 350 of these were built-- all of them specially fitted with triple carburettors rather than the twin carbs.fitted to the standard Austin Healey's, Ours is one of these very special cars and was ordered with the optional chrome 15" "knock-off" wire wheels and the very rare optional detachable hard top as well as the convertible top and tonneau cover. Retaining the fully rebuilt original engine, the car has been fitted with a recommended 5-speed manual transmission, replacing the original 4-speed unit. The car is accompanied by an original owner's manual and British Heritage Certificate confirming that this was built as a black car--another rarity. The original red ;leather has been replaced by lovely dark green leather with body-matching black piping. Our car was subject to a body-off-chassis, nut-and-bolt restoration by BMC (British Motor Corporation), a restoration facility in Philadelphia specializing in Austin Healey restorations. The car was completed for the owner of the facility, Knut Holzer, in 2015 and, as such, was fitted with three lovely rallye gauges and accompanied by a full tool kit He later sold the car to a Bernardsville enthusiast who has carefully driven the car @4000 miles in his 4 years of ownership. This is an opportunity to own a rare and beautiful true English roadster in amazing condition throughout. SOLD!
