1972 DETOMASO PANTERA. #THPNLU02210.
(Stock #4272.) Italian for “panther”, the Pantera was a combination of European design and American power, which made the car a member of an exclusive society of exotic auto manufacturers in the 1950’s, ‘60’s and ‘70’s. Following the DeTomaso Mangusta, the Pantera was built from 1971 to 1992. Our car is finished in Acrylic Lacquer-Red with original black interior and is powered by a Ford 351 Cleveland V8 engine with ZF 5-speed manual transmission. With 310 horsepower, the car offered a top speed of 158 mph, and a 0-60 acceleration time of 5.8 seconds. Our Pantera is a local (Gladstone), 1-owner car, complete with original order sheet, bill of sale, service records, owner’s manual, extra keys, etc. In 1985, the owner decided to change the flavor of his Pantera and had the car repainted in an original offering color of red. Since there has been no damage or rust to the car, the repaint was a straightforward process – and the now-37 year old paint has remained in very nice condition. The receipt for that work is present in the file kept by the owner. The car was always kept in a heated garage along with the owner’s Ferraris. Following a debilitating injury to the owner, which prevented him from being able to drive, his cars came to our climate-controlled storage facility where the Pantera has rested for the past 15+ years. Upon the owner’s passing, we were commissioned to gently bring the car back to driving condition. We have therefore performed a full and comprehensive mechanical servicing. The car now drives just as it should with an incredibly strong driveline – The tires show little wear, but pre-date the date-coding system and will be replaced by the tires of the purchaser’s choice prior to delivery. 17,553 miles.
