1986 JAGUAR XJ-6 SERIES III. #SAJAV1341GC438210. (Stock #4323.) The XJ-6 Jaguar was introduced to world acclaim in 1968. It was the last model produced by Jaguar’s founder, William Lyons, and is a fabulous design in a sporty and refined luxury sedan. The car was powered by a carbureted 4.2 litre, twin overhead camshaft, 6-cylinder engine–a direct derivative of the 3.4 litre twin cam engine offered in the late 1940’s in the fabulous Jaguar XK-120. The XJ-6 underwent a facelift for the 1974 “Series 2” models and then again in 1979 with the gorgeous “Series III’s”. The XJ-6’s became more and more advanced over the years and the 1985-1987 models are thought to be the most reliable of the group. They are fabulous cars with their 4-wheel power disc brakes being a bit ahead of their time, but their design and interior appointments of burl wood and leather giving the cars a feeling of old-time luxury and opulence. Modern touches include electric: sunroof, windows, locks, mirrors and antenna. Our car has had just one owner since new and has been driven fewer than 38,000 miles over that 38 year period. In 1998, the owner put the car into storage in his heated garage. Upon his passing, his wife and daughter left the car as it sat but offered it for sale in 2023. A family friend then brought the car back to life and it remains an amazing and fully original “time-warp” example of the marque. Finished in all original Tudor White with gorgeous red leather upholstery, also completely original, and beautiful burl walnut facia and interior trim, the car drives beautifully and still has its original (5) Pirelli “P-5” tires. It has covered fewer than 38,000 miles since new and is priced at just $26,500.
