1988 BMW Alpina

The “E28” Series BMW, built from 1981 through 1988, was a true mix of a great German family car and a true enthusiast’s car.  There were many iterations of the car, but the one that stands out, high above the many variants, is the one offered by Alpina–the “Alpina B7 Turbo.” 278 of these cars were built between 1984 and 1987 and they represent the Holy Grail of 1980’s BMW’s. Approximately 10 are known to exist in the USA with another 2 known tro be in Canada. With its Motronic fuel-injection a hot cam and KKK turbocharger, it produces 320 horsepower and 375 lb ft of torque and a 5-speed Getrag “dogleg” manual transmission, Alpina suspension springs and dampers, M5 4-piston brakes, etc., the car is amazingly fun to drive while still comfortable on the road.  Our car is # 243of the 278 built and is certainly one of the finest known examples to exist. Originally from The Netherlands, it was brought to California @5 years ago and is ready to be wildly appreciated among the cognoscenti at shows anywhere in the world. the car offers incredible technology and performance for its time but still was ordered with such niceties as a leather interior, a Blaupunkt “Bremen” stereo, electric sunroof, windows, locks and mirrors as well as factory air conditioning. The car has covered just @ 86,000 miles and is accompanied by a fabulous assortment of records, manuals, tools and documentation. $175,000.
