The Mazda MX5 Miata is the most popular sports car ever built, as documented by The Guiness Book of World Records.  And there is a reason for that popularity—in fact, many reasons. Based on Colin Chapman’s Lotus Elan, it is a relatively lightweight car with excellent performance from its 2 litre, twin cam, fuel-injected, 167 horsepower  4-cylinder engine and its 6-speed manual transmission.  With a 0-60 mile-per-hour acceleration time of 5.7 seconds, a red line at 7200 rpm and a top speed of 130 mph, it offers performance which many other sports cars can’t touch.
