(Stock #4306.) In 1961, Lincoln introduced an incredible, new-in-every-way car: the Continental 4-door convertible. In 1965, a similar but slightly lengthened version was offered. Unparalleled luxury in a 4-door convertible with most elegant styling, great comfort, very impressive power and a look not to be confused with any other car. Powered by a 7.6 litre, 462 cubic inch (the largest displacement ever offered in a Lincoln or any Ford Motor Company car) V-8 engine with 340 horsepower and 485 ft. lbs. of torque. The 5000 pound car offered performance which paralleled the standard of its luxury. Just 3,180 of these fabulous machines were built with 1966 being the first year of a glass convertible top window (prior ones were plastic) and the last year of the leather interior (subsequent ones were vinyl). Luxury features such as the rear windows automatically lowering upon the rear doors opening or closing, were certainly novel and imaginative. That idea, plus the concept of the rear doors being hinged at the rear and opening rearward, greatly facilitated ease of entry and exit. All expected standard luxury features–factory air conditioning, electric windows, seats, locks, convertible top, trunk lid were present and the car really lacked for nothing. Our car, finished in beautiful soft yellow with black leather and matching convertible top, has come to us from an estate collection of fabulous cars, each one nicer than the next. It has been judged by the Lincoln and Continental Owners Club to be “Best in Show” where it received “The Founder’s Trophy” at the Western National Meet of the LCOC. 68,297 miles. SOLD
