In 1972, Mercedes-Benz carried on its post-war tradition of offering a luxury 2-seater sports car with style, performance and handling. But now, for the first time, a V-8 engine was offered in the car. The "107" Series car arrived with a 4.5 litre V-8 engine which, over the following 17 years, developed into a potent 5.6 litre twin timing chain engine capable of excellent performance on the highway. These later 560 SL's also offered the option of true roadster motoring with the convertible top disappearing into its handy compartment or the quiet luxury offered by the detachable and stylish detachable hardtop. Our car was sold new in California where it remained until 2018 at which time it was sold to a customer of The Stable in Hobe Sound, Florida, then with just more than 50,000 miles. The car has been carefully garaged and driven fewer than 4,500 miles since then and remains in pristine condition. Finished in beautiful deep midnight blue, body and hard top, with gorgeous Palomino leather and dark blue convertible top. The car is fitted with climate control, cruise control, electric windows, original Becker signal-seeking "Grand Prix" AM-FM/cassette stereo system, twin electric outside rear view mirrors, factory 15" alloy wheels with Michelin Premium radial tires, ABS 4-wheel power disc brakes, driver side airbag, and a plethora of other luxury and safety equipment. The original manuals and first aid kit have been preserved with the car. 54,422 miles. $38,000.
