1961 BENTLEY PARK WARD SII CONVERTIBLE #BC9LCZ. (Stock # 4459). Bentley Motors is known for building some of the finest and most exciting motorcars in the world. In 1959, a Norwegian-designed, by Wilhelm Koren, convertible was introduced. This special, hand-built lightweight car used steel in its structural and body framework and light alloy for its outer body panels. It was powered by the newly introduced Rolls-Royce 6.23 litre, V-8 engine which enabled the car to have a top speed of more than 130 miles per hour. Just 65 of these cars were built in left-hand drive form, another 60 in right-hand drive for sale in the mother country–but all were built to the specifications presented by the buyer. #BC9LCZ is one of the left-hand drive examples delivered to the USA for delivery to the Academy Award-nominated British actor, Laurence Harvey. Harvey is perhaps best know for his starring dramatic roles in "Seven Days to Noon," "Night Watch,""The Manchurian Candidate", Butterfield 8", "Room at the Top", and others. . Upon Harvey's death iin 1973, the car moved to a noted Rolls-Royce and Bentley collector in Chicago and then to the collector who has owned it for the past 40+ years. It has been tucked away in the carriage house of a Westchester, New York family since the early 1980’s where it has been treasured and carefully driven on special occasions and occasionally shown at Rolls-Royce Owner’s Club events. The car is fitted with electric windows and power top and has been retrofitted with air conditioning. It drives beautifully and the leather and paintwork are in near-showroom new condition. A rare and beautiful automobile with a great provenance harking back to another era. 80,339 miles. $195,000.
