1959 JAGUAR XK-150 DROP-HEAD COUPE #S837959DN. (Stock #4476). In 1984, a local doctor and Jaguar enthusiast searched high and low for the finest XK-150 Jaguar which he could find. A local Jaguar dealer knew of a beautiful 1959 drop-head-coupe in Olde English White with blue leather and matching convertible top and boot. The car had covered just 37,426 miles in its 25 years since delivered new. Our customer purchased the car and has treated it like a member of his family ever since. Now, 42 years later, the car has covered an additional 3,838 miles and still drives and appears almost as a new car. “Elizabeth” lived in the second floor of the owner’s carriage house and, aside from an occasional long drive to Newport, Rhode Island or some other Jaguar shows and events, only saw local drives on perfect days and remains a remarkable find. Fitted with the “3.4 litre” engine, and the desirable options of 16” chrome “knock-off” wire wheels, an overdrive unit with its 4-speed manual transmission and fog lights, this car has never been subject to a restoration. But the car has been treated to new and correct leather and convertible top in 2015. Seat belts have been added. In 2018, the car, with just under 40,000 miles, scored 98.8 points (of a possible 100) at a Jaguar Club of North America judged Concours d’Elegance. Today, the car remains in the same impeccable conditionals evident at that show. We at The Stable have known this car since it changed hands 42 years ago. The car is accompanied by its original owner’s manual and a full service record file dating back to the 1970’s.. It currently has covered 41,264 miles and is priced at $125,000.
