1960 FIAT 1100-D “FAMILIARE”
#103D108607102. (Stock #3839.) This absolutely
adorable station wagon was built by Fiat to comfortably
accommodate 4-people and their luggage. Our car was
delivered new as an Italian Embassy car in Greece and has
documented history from new. Following its retirement from
diplomatic service, the car was sold to a local embassy
employee who kept the car for nearly 40 years before selling
it in 2001, by then in need of restoration. That restoration
was completed in Greece in 2015 and the car was finished in
rallye-support-vehicle trim including the roof rack with
spare wheels and tires. The car is powered by its original
1100 cc 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission,
both of which were rebuilt at the time of restoration.
Mechanical restoration work also included brakes,
suspension and rear end being rebuilt as well as the car’s
wiring harness being completely replaced. As may easily be
seen, the body (dark blue with eggshell-color roof) and
interior (beautifully matching the body colors) restoration
was also completed to a high standard. The car is
accompanied by a photo documentation of its restoration.
Built in 1960, the car was first titled in 1962—probably its
first year of being registered. Actual mileage is unknown,
but few miles have been covered since the car was reborn.
$35,000.
