1971 MERCEDES-BENZ 280SL COUPE ROADSTER #113.044-12-022279.  (Stock # 4445) The 280SL was the last of the highly desirable and  increasingly collectible “Pagoda” SL Series which was introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1964 with the 230SL and ended in 1971 with the 280SL. Our  car is a  “Holy Grail” -type example of the series. We purchased the car 23 years ago, then with 37,015 miles, from its original local owner. Another local (Princeton)  man had been looking for as nice, correct, original and low mileage an example as could be found–as a birthday gift for his wife.  This was the car!  It  has since been cherished by the recipient of the gift ever since. It  has been kept covered in their heated garage and driven for special occasions. nice weather outings  and occasional shows, being driven just 4.421 miles in the 23 years it has been with its second owners. Finished in near-flawless garnet (body and hard top) with beautiful and completely original cognac interior and just as nice convertible top.
