    Description

1987 JAGUAR XJ-6 SERIES III. #SAJAV1347HC477353. (Stock #4424.) The XJ-6 Jaguar was introduced to world acclaim in 1968. It was the last model produced by Jaguar’s founder, William Lyons, and is a fabulous design in  a refined luxury sport sedan. The car is powered by a fuel-injected, 4.2 litre, twin overhead camshaft, 6-cylinder engine–a direct derivative of the 3.4 litre twin cam engine offered in the late 1940’s in the fabulous Jaguar XK-120. The XJ-6 underwent a facelift for the 1974 “Series 2” models and then again in 1979 with the gorgeous “Series III’s”. The XJ-6’s became more and more advanced over the years and the 1985-1987 models are thought to be the most reliable of the group. They are fabulous cars with their 4-wheel power disc brakes being a bit ahead of their time, but their design and interior appointments of burl wood and leather giving the cars a feeling of old-time luxury and opulence. Modern touches include power rack-and-pinion steering, 4-wheel power disc brakes, climate control, cruise control, electric: sunroof,  windows (tinted), locks, outside rear-view mirrors. heated rear window  and antenna, lumbar support to the front seats, seatback pockets, vanity mirror, etc.   Our car, ordered in “Nimbus White” (cream)  with beautiful “Isis Blue” leather and fabulous polished walnut facia and cabin trim, was purchased new on May 18, 1987 at Regency Motors in Montclair, NJ–the local Rolls-Royce, Bentley Jaguar dealership–by a Jaguar aficionado who saved everything–the original bill of sale, sales invoice, original window sticker and every service record from the selling dealership.  That owner kept the car as his pride and joy, driving it only on perfect weather days and never in the winter months. When he passed away in 1996, his best friend purchased the car from his estate with just over 40,000 miles.  He continued the exceptional car of his friend’s  car, adding every record of his servicing  to the complete file which his friend had carefully maintained.  He drove the car another 15,000 miles in his 24 years of ownership and, in 2020, then with just over 55,000 miles, he sold the car to The Stable.  We then sold the car to a local Jaguar Club member who again babied the car, saved every service  record and showed the car at the annual “Cats In The Garden” event in Montclair, the original home of the car.  He added  an additional @9,000 miles in his 6 years of driving pleasure. 64,350 total miles. $24,500.
