    Description
1989 MERCEDES BENZ 560SL. #WDBBA48D1KA092073. (Stock #4321.) Mercedes-Benz has created some beautiful 2-seater, hard top and soft top convertibles over the years starting in 1955 with a 4-cylinder “190 SL” and a fuel-injected 6-cylinder “300 SL”. Both cars have stood the test of time and have appreciated wildly in value since their era, which ended in 1963. From 1964 to 1971, Mercedes-Benz built a 6-cylinder SL, also with both tops, which has appreciated substantially in value as well. In 1972, Mercedes-Benz offered another absolutely beautiful SL, this one powered by a 4.5 litre, fuel-injected engine, and one so attractive that the body style remained basically unchanged until 1989. The last version, built from 1986 to 1989, was powered by a twin timing chain, fuel-injected, 5.6 litre V-8 engine and was gorgeous, fast, and luxurious. 1989 was the final year of production of the fabulous 560SL and has become the most collectible of the series. Our car was delivered new in Texas and remained there until 2015 when, with just over 70,000 miles, it moved to Long Island. Then with @77,000 miles, the car was purchased by a Mercedes-Benz aficionado in Villanova, Pennsylvania. He felt that the body, paint, interior and mechanicals were so nice that he had the undercarriage “dry-iced” and prepared for show since the car had spent almost all of its life in Texas where it was not subjected to the ravages of winter roads, and was driven fewer than 1,000 miles per year during ideal weather conditions for the past 7 years. In fact, it was used basically as a show car for the past 3 years, covering fewer than 500 miles during that period. As a result, the undercarriage has been kept in wonderful condition and is now shown as it would have been as a new car. The car is gorgeous in Signal Red, body and hard top, with Light Ivory leather and black convertible top, and has all of its original equipment, including the top-of-the-line Becker “Grand Prix” signal-seeking stereo system, ABS power disc brakes and 15” alloy wheels (with new Pirelli “P4” radial tires), both convertible and detachable hard tops, etc. 77,544 miles. SOLD!
