2008 ROLLS-ROYCE PHANTOM DROPHEAD COUPE #SCA2D68548UX16010.
(Stock #4385.) Rolls-Royce, in keeping with the more-than-century old tradition of the “world’s finest automobile,” pleased the motoring world when they introduced the 2008 Phantom Drophead Coupe. Unabashed luxury is revealed when the coach door is electrically opened from behind the triangulated A pillar and the leather, wool and fine woods interior are found to be very pleasing to the senses. Looking out over the brushed stainless steel bonnet to the Spirit of Ecstacy is a pleasant occupants’ view which may be changed with the push of a button, lowering the flying lady into the grill shell for safety. The fresh teak wood on the door capping rails matches that of the teak rear deck which is revealed when the convertible top (constructed by five layers of cloth to help silence the sounds of the outside world) is lowered. The polished wood facia offers a very pleasing contrast. The list of luxury features, including a requisite hidden television, is very lengthy. The list of safety features is almost as long and includes a pop-up roll bar in the case of an unlikely potential roll-over and head, knee and side airbags at the ready. Performance is nothing short of astonishing for this 3+ ton luxury carriage–0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.9 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 150 mph–in smooth near-silent operation from its 12 cylinder engine.
This extraordinary example was the first Phantom Drophead built for the North American market and bears an engraved plaque from Rolls-Royce reading “Build Number One.” The car was sent by Rolls-Royce–with great fanfare– to The Ritz Carlton Golf Resort in Florida to be auctioned at a fine wine festival, selling there at a price of $2,000,000 to a Florida resident who has owned 60+ Rolls-Royce automobiles during his life. We now have the privilege of selling this phenomenal car for a second time. We first received the Phantom from a Stable customer, who brought the car to his estate in Gladstone from his home in Palm Beach. In August of 2023, we sold the Phantom to a local (Tewksbury) customer, who has driven the car fewer than 1,000 miles during his one year of ownership. During his ownership, he wished to protect this piece of automotive history and ordered a plush custom-built cover and exact-fit carpet covers to protect the factory Mouton carpet covers which protect the Wilton wool carpets (also factory). He has now sold his local estate and has moved, fittingly to Palm Beach, where his garage space has limitations not present here in Tewksbury. This extraordinary Rolls Royce is back to be enjoyed by a new owner. Owner’s manual, plush custom car cover, and extensive documentation, records and associated literature accompany the vehicle. 10,275 miles. $225,000.
