1962 PORSCHE 356 B 60 COUPE. #118003.
(Stock #4347.) Following the devastation of Germany during World War II, a small automaker grew from the ashes and, in 1948, a “Gmund Roadster”, now known as a Porsche “pre-A”, was introduced using a VW engine with horsepower raised to 35 for the Porsche. Top speed of this neat little cas was 83 miles per hour. Engine size was increased over the next decade to 1100 cc, then to 1300cc, and on to 1500cc by 1960. Our 1962 “T-6” coupe has its completely redesigned original 1600 cc, overhead valve, flat-4 engine with 60 horsepower and, with its original 4-speed manual transmission, offers a top speed of @110 miles per hour. It has come to us from its local (Tewksbury) collector/enthusiast with whom we have had many pleasurable collector car transactions over the years. The car is accompanied by its owners manuals in their case, “Cardex” report showing a build date of October 23, 1961 and original delivery to Hollywood, California, original paint color of Silver Metallic, original blue interior and, most importantly, all original matching numbers. The Cardex also confirms that it was a California car, having been delivered new in Hollywood. The very old paint has substantial “patina” on an extremely solid original body with fabulous door, panel, and window fit. The original interior, with cloth inserts, is completely intact and is complete with its original Blaupunkt AM-FM radio. The car has a great look and drives beautifully. $72,000.
