1964 MGB ROADSTER. #GHN3L15740.
(Stock #4225.) In 1963, the venerable MGA (1956-1963) was replaced by an entirely new car which proved to be the most popular car ever built by Morris Garages—the MGB. The early cars, built from 1963 through 1967, featured chrome bumpers, twin carburetors and optional chrome “knock-off” wire wheels. They were the most powerful of the “B’s” and are certainly the prettiest and most desirable and collectible models. We purchased our car from the Pennsylvania surgeon to whom we sold the car a few years ago.and who has now retired and sold his house with a lovely carriage house in which he kept the MG. We had previously purchased the car from its local (Basking Ridge) long-term owner who had purchased it from the Florida enthusiast who fully restored the car after finding it in the hands of its original owner, also a Florida resident. Beautiful in black with dark red leather piped in black, dark red carpets, black convertible top with matching tonneau cover and top boot—all done in the correct original materials.—and period whitewall tires mounted on correct chrome wire wheels. Our car also sports Lucas fog and road lamps, original “British Motor Corporation” radio, twin outside rear-view mirrors, chrome bumper over-riders, front and rear, etc. It is accompanied by its original 1964 “driver’s handbook”, tool kit, service records, title copies from all four owners and photo documentation of the car’s 2-year restoration completed in 2001. The car was shown at the Hershey, Pennsylvania AACA Annual Meet, winning a First Prize award. It has been driven fewer than 2,000 miles since its restoration, drives beautifully and is ready to show, drive and enjoy.
