1997 PORSCHE “993” C4S SUNROOF COUPE WITH TURBO II AERO KIT #WP0AA2998VS321651. (Stock #4019.) The air cooled Porsches ended production with the “993” series, built from 1995 to 1998. These cars replaced the “964” cars which were built between 1989 and 1984. They were very different cars although keeping the same basic body structure as the earlier cars. The “993” series cars were the first to have Porsche’s 6-speed manual transmission (earlier stick shifts were either 4-speed or 5-speed), had larger brakes with drilled discs, a free-flow exhaust system and many other changes from earlier cars. The Porsche world seems to be assigning an important place to the 993 series in the air-cooled Porsche history. They are cars which seem to do almost everything perfectly. Along with the standard “993’s, Porsche offered an optional all wheel drive system with the cars—a system dramatically improved from earlier Porsche all wheel drive systems. For the enthusiast demanding a bit more from their new Porsche, a wide-body car was also offered, in either Turbo or a normally aspirated version. The latter, in all wheel drive form and slightly lowered from the standard 993 cars, was referred to as the “C4S” and has claimed in own highly-regarded spot in Porsche history. Its wider body work was extremely attractive and allowed wider wheels and tires to be fitted, contributing to excellent road-handling. Just 627 were built in 1997 and our car must be one of the most desirable available anywhere. It is one of few which were ordered with the “Turbo II Aero Kit” which included the distinctive tail and modified front spoiler. It was also ordered with 17” “Turbo-Twist” alloy wheels and as an “insignia delete” car. Finished in gorgeous Arena Red with fabulous original Cashmere leather our car was delivered new in Ohio and purchased by a long-time and multi-vehicle Stable customer in Colts Neck, NJ, in 2006, then with @ 12,000 miles. He was to carefully keep the car in his collection of exotic cars until 2012 when, with @15,000 miles, we sold the car to an enthusiast who immediately drove the car to his home in Florida. Following 7 years and @19,000 additional miles of careful driving, the car has come back to us from that owner and remains in the same extraordinary condition as evident when we first met the car in 2006. The body is in amazingly superb and original condition; the interior is absolutely gorgeous and also fully original. All original manuals and every service record from new accompany the car, along with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, showing the car to be now exactly as it was born. 31,723 miles.
