The 1998 "C-5" Corvette was no exception, having been designated the "1998 Motor Trend Car of the Year" upon its introduction. With a 5.7 litre V-8 engine, a 6-speed, fully synchronized manual transmission and rear transaxle producing a top speed of 167 miles per hour, a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.9 seconds and a 0-120 mph acceleration time of 18.6 seconds along with spacious accommodations for 2 with a nice assortment of luxury and safety features, the choice may have been an easy one. Our car is a quite unusual and most desirable offering of one of these cars-"triple black (body, leather and top) with a 6-speed manual transmission and a provenance quite unusual for a Corvette. For Christmas, 1998, a Pittstown enthusiast purchased a new Corvette. For Christmas, 2013, he purchased a new Ferrari, trading in his Corvette which had remained as new and had covered just more than 5,000 miles-in 16 years!! The Ferrari dealer immediately sold this incredibly low mileage car to its second owner, a man in Whippany who had always promised himself a Corvette. He drove the car another 11,400 miles in his 9 years of ownership, avoiding any but pristine roads and weather, and sold the car to us in hopes of us finding the "right person” to continue the car's meticulous maintenance and fabulous and all original condition.
