1999 MERCEDES SL 500 COUPE/CONVERTIBLE. #WDBFA68F1XF179108.
(Stock #4356.) In 1990, Mercedes-Benz introduced an entirely new version of the “SL” which they had originally offered in 1954 as the 6-cylinder 300SL in “Gullwing” coupe and roadster versions. In 1955, the 4-cylinder 190SL was introduced. In 1964, an entirely new 6-cylinder “Pagoda roof” 230SL came out and in 1972 a V-8 powered 450SL was introduced. That body style was replaced in 1990 by the fabulous 500SL which, over the years as luxury appointments grew and safety modifications were incorporated by Mercedes-Benz, became the SL-500. By 1999, the car had a 5 litre, fuel-injected V-8 engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission along with traction control which together gave the car a 0-60 miles per hour acceleration time of 6.1 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 155 mph. For safety, the car’s stopping power is fabulous with its large ABS4-wheel power disc brakes, driver and passenger front and side-mounted airbags, an automatic “pop-up” roll bar, fog lights and a host of standard Mercedes-Benz safety features. Luxury abounds in the car with gorgeous tan soft Nappa leather (new for 1999), beautiful polished chestnut burl wood interior trim, power disappearing convertible top, detachable hard top, climate control, cruise control, electric windows, seats (also headed and with memories), locks, original signal-seeking AM-FM , 6-speaker stereo system with electric antenna, rear window defogger, heated windshield wipers, original 17” alloy wheels, etc. Our car was sold new in Delray Beach, Florida where it was driven just 3,259 miles prior to our purchase of the car and resale to one of our regular customers in Pennsylvania in 2005. Driven as a third car by that family for the past 19 years, it has just been traded back in to us and remains in fabulous condition.78,103 miles. $24,900.
